I feel so honored to be photographing other families and helping them document their own memories.
The potential for a photograph to be more impacting than that of a moving image lies seemingly in its stillness. It is this stillness that allows perceptible sentiments to fester in ones mind. Perhaps due to the static nature of the photograph we are led to exercise patterns of thought that may aid in the construction of a suitable narrative to form clearer understandings. Where as the moving image races through our visual digestion at twenty-four-frames-per-second, it is the stillness of the solitary image that breeds introspection. Perhaps it is the ability to control the dispatching of context that aids the power of the single image. The control given to the viewer as they are able to contextualise the image in their their own minor narrative. The ability to place that image in their own linear construction of precession and succession.
